Hydration 101

Our challenge to all CPA members this month was HYDRATION, since staying hydrated during your workouts is essential for both peak performance and optimal health.

How much water should you be drinking every day? We recommend starting your day off with 24 oz of water before you take that first sip of coffee in the morning. For an entire day, 80-100 oz of water for women and 100-120 oz for men is typically recommended.

What about when you're training? It's important to drink water before, during, and after your workout to replace the fluids lost through sweat. Aim for at least 4 oz of water every 15 minutes during your workout, and replenish with at least 16-20 ounces of water after your workout.

Sweat a lot? Consider adding electrolytes to your water. These minerals - like sodium, potassium, and magnesium - help replenish the electrolytes lost through sweat and can prevent cramps and fatigue. So next time you're powering through a particularly sweaty session, consider reaching for a packet of electrolytes to add to your water. For a quick option, we love Jocko Hydrate electrolyte drinks. *We just got some in, so stop by our cooler after your next training session.*

It’s easy to skip but remember — proper hydration is key to reaching your fitness goals and feeling your best, so bottles up!
